Providing independence through drivers assessment and training

Jenny Nordine, OTR/L, CDRS

With 15 years of experience in acute care and rehabilitation based Occupational Therapy, Jenny Nordine had a strong desire to develop a driving program to provide the ultimate level of independence. This passion was developed into Driving to Independence in 2000. Jenny began working in Neuro rehabilitation in 1989 with a focus on rehabilitation of brain and spinal cord injury. When working with individuals in an outpatient setting the question was frequently asked, “When can I start driving?”

Jenny is able to assist our client’s with independence in the community to allow them to maintain or return to employment or school, care for their families, socialize or independently participate in their communities. Jenny specializes in high tech driving instruction in our wheelchair accessible van, but has diverse skills to complete evaluations and trainings.

Jenny has presented at multiple conferences on the subject of Adaptive Drivers Assessment and Training including the Association of Driver Rehabilitation Specialists, the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association, Arizona Occupational Therapy Association, American Stroke Association Stroke Survivor Conference and Arizona Brain Injury Transition conference

This is in addition to recurring engagements at Midwestern University Occupational Therapy program and the Arizona School of Health Sciences Occupational Therapy program.

When free time allows, Jenny enjoys baseball, hiking, sailing and reading. Spending time with her sons and family is the top of the priority list!
