Maggie Young has been working in the Medical Field for 18 years mostly in hospital setting in both inpatient and outpatient environment. She was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy a form of Muscular Dystrophy. She was told when she was 16 by a driving evaluator at a Rehab Hospital in Denver that she would never drive so she resided with the fact that wasn't an option for her. She had a vehicle her friends could drive so she was always very busy out and about. When at 25 she was involved in a car accident which led to her meet another driving evaluator who asked "why aren't you driving"? The rest is history and she has been driving for 14 years.
She is very excited to come and work with the Driving to Independence team because she is a true believer that you can do anything you set your mind too. She has worked as volunteer coordinator with an adaptive sports camp and she has always tried to be a positive role model to the kids that look up to her. They often tell her that she is inspiring to them because she works full-time, goes to school full-time, drives and lives on her own with her husband. She recently had to get a new van and underwent another evaluation with Driving to Independence and she was hooked. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their "furry" babies.
